Hallow's Eve Recap

The Hallow's Eve 10km on Sunday was a lot of fun.

It's been quite a while since I ran a race with over a dozen people I know so that made it different for sure. Here are some of the IF crew... many not pictured.

I went into the race with no plan whatsoever other than to enjoy myself. I knew I wanted to check in on the group from lululemon and that I wanted to run with some of the IF folks for a bit but that I also wanted to run a few sections "for myself".

So that's exactly what I did. At the start I ran with some friends from IF including my old coach (from a year or so ago) James. Then I slowed down and waited to run with the lulu girls for a while. Then I sped back up and ran with Virginia and Antony (who was in Moab with me)...

The course was pretty challenging (do I ever NOT say that?) There were LOTS of stairs, and lots of wooden walkways that were wet (this is pretty sketchy with my running leg). There were lots of uphills and some really fun downhills too.

I was having a blast running with a group of about 6 runners for several km until I caught my leg on a root and actually dislodged it! That has never happened to me in any race... it was actually off for a second... somehow I didn't go down - just hopped and reattached.

That broke my momentum, I lost my group, and though I got the leg back on, it was very sloppy - the liner had been pulled down a bit...

Fortunately I was only a km or 2 from home and didn't need to do a full reset.

My next post may have to be a prosthetic leg make-over... my running leg is in ROUGH shape after the last two or three trail runs and also the 3 Peaks... It is definitely in need of some TLC.

Congrats to everyone from IF and lululemon!!

Busy, busy, busy...

Getting ready to take off on Monday...  lots of preparation.  I'm also trying to spend as much time with Sacha and the kids as I can because I'll be gone soon.

Doesn't leave much time for blogging but I do have time to post a few pictures from the last week:

Aia had her ballet recital.... Ballet recitals for 3 and 4 year-olds are pretty fun(ny) to watch. She did really well and Sacha and I (and her grandparents) were all very proud.

Enough to make any Papa proud...

Mattias' team (The Giants) had a road trip to Bowen Island.  It was pretty exciting for them... They held a lead into the 4th inning then got totally shelled by the Bowen Island Mariners. Alas, it was the closest they have come to a win this season...

Viggo celebrated his first birthday - we had a pretty big party here and as usual Sacha totally had every detail dialed in.  Check out the cakes:

and cookies....

I got the wetsuit I won at the Kelowna Apple Triathlon finally....  actually the hold-up was all my fault - I was procrastinating majorly.  Happy to have it now though!  Blue Seventy Helix....  it is awesome!

The suit fits totally differently from my last suit (Nineteen).  It is much tighter, lower neckline, backwards zipper.  It all adds up to faster....  there is WAY less water sloshing around inside the suit.

The ocean is heating up - no need for gloves, booties, squid lids etc.  Kevin and I hit it up old school earlier this week...  just a cap and wetsuit.  We were in the water at 6:30am when the sun came up over the mountain - it was rad.

(Perhaps could use a bit of that sun on my body.... )

Last weekend my lululemon Run Clinic concluded with the Eagle Harbour 5km.  My ladies and my two youngsters, all performed admirably.  It was awesome.

(Not sure why I look like a giant in that photo....)

My Masters swimming buddy Sandy (#512 in the pic) even took the win....  I can't claim he was one of my clinic students though....

Have a great weekend!!!

Three things about lululemon

Let's start with a quiz....

What do this:
and this:
Have in common?

If you answered:  "they are both a$$es" you are wrong!  (Thanks though...)

In fact they are both wearing clothes from lululemon!

Now that my ambassadorship has truly begun at lululemon I thought I'd take a moment to introduce my readers to the company - they are much more than just a clothing store!

FIRST

Running clinics - led by yours truly...

In case you haven't heard...  lululemon (Park Royal - West Vancouver) has running clinics on Tuesday evenings (6:45pm) and Saturday mornings (9:30am).  The current clinic is "Learn to Run" and we are preparing a great group of customers and staff for the Eagle Harbour 5km on May 31st.  You can join any session and it is FREE!  Email me for more information:  meyrick (at) meyrickjonesracing (dot) com.

Look for other RUN offerings later in the year!

Your local lululemon store will likely have something cool going on - check it out the next time you are in there.

SECOND

I was surfing their website and noticed two new things:

Shop Nude - Yes, now you can buy great lululemon gear online!  We Vancouverites are spoilt by a plethora of lululemon stores, but those of you who don't have one near by are now in luck.  Ladies, buy the quintessential lululemon pant (or any of their other styles) online HERE.  Men, never fear, there are plenty of cool items for you too....

Goaltender - I think lululemon sets itself apart from other brands with the cool community and personal development vibe that is integral to their culture.  Case in point:  the lululemon Goaltender.  I found this tonight on their site - it helps you set goals, track goals, reminds you of goals and more.  It's super stylish too if you are a fan of web design....  Click HERE to have a look.

THIRD

Mythbuster #1:  "lululemon is for WOMEN ONLY."  Not true!  I wore an all new running outfit tonight at the clinic - shorts, shirt and lightweight jacket - all amazing!  The comfort and performance were really impressive.  These items should be online soon and they are in stores now.

Mythbuster #2:  "lululemon is good for yoga and dancing but not for "real sports".  Not true!  lululemon has an amazing line-up of running gear for men and women.  People who really want to perform are wearing it.  Check out Beth and Eileen - these two lululemon ambassadors (and blog buddies) take no prisoners!

If that isn't convincing enough have another look at my cool new gear:
